Test A General – Letter sample

Question: You are going to another country to study. You would like to do a part-time job while you are studying, so you want to ask a friend who lives there for some help.

Write a letter to your friend. In your letter,

• give details of your study plan
• explain why you want to get a part-time job
• suggest how your friend could help you find a job

Sample Letter :

Dear Sam,
Greetings, my friend, hope you are well. I’ll be reaching Toronto within a week, I am writing this letter to seek employment after my study hours. Since I don’t have any acquaintances there; I am in dire need of your help.

Let me first give you a brief idea of my study program. It is called Bio-Engineering and the semester would last from July to November. However, I would have classes only twice a week, letting me have a lot of free time. Thus, I am actively looking for some sort of engagement during my free time. As you are aware of my family background, capital support is imperative for my survival there.

I believe a half-day job would keep me engaged and also aid my financials. First off, it should be a part-time job during early morning hours. Also, I am expecting remunerations equal to or above the hostel fees, preferably 30 dollars per week. So, please do me a favour and spread the word in your social circle.
