Who he/she was?

As soon as you asked me to speak about my childhood hero or a person who I find impressive, the image of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi flashed through my mind. He is known worldwide as Mahatma Gandhi, the most renowned leader from India who was a game-changer in the Indian freedom struggle.

Is he/she still your hero?

Truly, until date I have been an ardent fan of his principles. His beliefs and philosophies have helped me in my life too. Yes, he is still a hero for me.

Why did you consider him/her as your childhood hero?

I learnt about him during my teenage years, precisely in History. There were numerous mentions and write-ups on his methodologies and practices. We also learnt about the movements and rallies he led as a part of the struggle for Indian independence. He believed that non- violence was the way to achieve freedom from the British. His thought process impressed me and I was fascinated to learn more about his simple and powerful practices. I always felt that he was a very straightforward person with a sublime personality.

Explain how he influenced you as a child?

As a learner, I was often bored learning about historical figures, as we had to remember and write about them at length for exams. However, the first impression of Mahatma Gandhi was awe-inspiring. He appeared everywhere in a white loincloth and held a staff in his hand. He was a leader to many other potential leaders, he was an amiable person at his place of stay, or Ashram yet was a disciplinarian when it came to practices. I feel all these qualities allured me to this personality as a young teen. I was also a school leader during those years, so I think I felt very aligned with this character.

A Character or Person Who Was Your Childhood Hero 2SPIDER-MAN

Who she/he was?

Well, my favourite childhood character was Spider-Man. I saw him first in a movie during my school years. He was bit by a radioactive spider and evolved having web-slinging abilities.

Is he/she still your hero?

Oh, yes! He is still a hero for me as this Marvel comic book’s character appears in several legendary sci-fi movies that have ever been directed. I have a series of Spiderman video games as well, that I relish and play during weekends. The last time I watched him was in an Avengers movie last December.

Why did you consider him/her as your childhood hero?

As a child, I was enchanted by his impetus to help the needy or downtrodden; being a superhero. He has the superhero strength within that allows him to climb walls and swing from one point to another. He is down to earth with commoners and spends quality time with his loved ones. He is not intemperate at all, even though he has such superiority as compared to other humans. If I were blessed with such a superpower, I would also be a lifesaver. His character is so addictive that I saw four Spiderman movies, back to back, on a single day and felt super inspired.

Explain how he influenced you as a child?

Marvel movies highlight Spiderman as a moderate school kid. Even though he had mammoth responsibilities to save the world from villains or catastrophes, he did it diligently. He was also great at teaming up with other superheroes, which in fact needs a lot of mettle. He was a courageous young man with a slim build, unlike most other superheroes who have strong bodies and impressive armour. All these characteristics instilled a lot of motivation in me and influenced me in a big way when I was younger.
